February Stats and Mentions

It’s a new month and the stats for Money Infant are out! This is the first month worth of stats, so expect to see improvement over the upcoming months. I debated on whether or not to do this and in the end I figured why not. Those who are really interested could get most of this data anyway and those just mildly interested might not go to the trouble, but will appreciate that I’ve shared it. Please not that these are technical and traffic stats only. My accountant and lawyer both agree that I should not be sharing information regarding revenue and expenses.

Stats are for the period of Feb 1, 2012 to Feb 29, 2012. I am not including the prior months stats as I wasn’t actively working on the site in January 2012 and prior so they wouldn’t provide much insight into the growth of Money Infant. Going forward I will include increases and decreases on a monthly basis.

Alexa – 296,310
PR – 1
mozRank – 4.73
Monthly total visitors – 1,781
Monthly unique visitors – 1,157
Monthly pageviews – 3,535
Avg time on site – 2:54
Bounce rate – 63.00%

I have to say that for a new site I am pretty pleased with the stats. Of course it’s easy to be happy when you don’t have any baseline to compare against :) I’m excited to see what March brings and expect it to be quite an improvement over February, but of course that remains to be seen.

I also want to thanks all of those carnivals and roundups that have posted links to my work over the past week. Without the help of all these sites my stats would likely be much worse.

Congrats on the stats! That’s great. I love watching my blog grow, it’s such a satisfying feeling.

  2. Nick says:

Wow – great month! Can’t wait for the PR reset to see how high you leap.

    • Can’t wait myself, but I think we will have to wait at least 3 more months. Oh well, it just gives me longer to keep strengthening the site and adding more great content.

Great first month Steve! Looks like you’ve been really busy.

I just got done reading through your Thailand series last night, and posted a link in a private forum for someone who is interested in moving to Thailand in 6 months. Hopefully you’ll get a bit of traffic from that ;)

Thanks for stopping by my site and leaving a comment. We love homeschooling, and have been doing it for the past five years. I have 6 kids, so we have a wide range of ages going at once. Let me know if you ever have any questions about it!

    • Thanks Ashley for the comment and for dropping the link to my Thailand series.

I may take you up on your offer in a few years. Our only other options would be to move back to the States for 13 years while our daughter does her school thing or else put her in a private international school which would be a huge expense. It also limits where we can live as not all countries have suitable English language schools. If you can do it with 6 kids AND blog, then I can certainly handle just 1.

Great early progress Steve! I like the idea of updates like this to show fellow bloggers how far you’ve come.

    • That was part of the reason I did it, to give motivation to other bloggers when they see how fast you can get a site started. The other reason was more selfish. It gives me an archive of my monthly progress and it also forces me to do better next month since the stats are now public ;)

  5. The Dividend Ninja says:

Hey Steve, thanx for the mention! :)

Yes ur stats are very good for a new site, you will be kicking my arse in no time at all! Keep up the good work.

    Cheers
    The Dividend Ninja

    • My pleasure! Thanks for the compliment. I am pleased with the stats, but as with anything we can always do better :)

Considering your traffic I think it will be some time before I am kicking your arse, but I am up for the challenge!

  6. Aloysa @ My Broken Coin says:

Actually for a new site you have great stats! I didn’t have stats like this in my first month. You are doing amazing!

  7. CultOfMoney says:

I’m also very impressed with your stats. Your blog is about the same age as mine, and as far as I know I don’t even have a moz ranking yet, so well done! As far as your baseline, I think you’re setting it now, and you’ll have some tough comparables going forward, that’s for sure.

    • The only way to really excel is to set the bar extremely high. I think I’ve accomplished that. Of course in the upcoming months I could end up with egg on my face too.

You’re in a small subgroup of people making more than most people online. You’ll get a following, and you’ll be killing it if you continue to post a lot and get some decent backlinks. Don’t forget to follow Patrick, what he’s doing – he’s already sold his site for $200K. If you want to guestpost on IncAnswers.com – let me know. If anyone does – let me know. Cheers then! Vern
